CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY- MICROBIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST

• Perform preparation of samples using some routine wet chemistry techniques. • Coordinates and plans lab exercises with lecturers. • Constructs, adapts or acquires specialized lab equipment to meet specific instruction or research needs • Controls and monitors supply inventories. • Perform aseptic procedures including media preparation, antigen inoculation and harvest, and filling vaccines. • Attend training classes, workshops, meetings, as required to improve job skills and product-related procedures. • Must be able to work flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the manufacturing process. • Assist with the immortalization of human lymphocyte cell lines and cryopreservation of these cell lines for long-term storage. • Coordination of test schedule for timely completion along with data analysis and reporting results according to the customer requirements regular communication/updates on running status and availability of testers. • Operate and proactively maintain laboratory equipment.

• Overseas daily lab operation and manages workflow. • Creates project schedules and monitors employee productivity. • Develops, implements, and evaluates goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. • Evaluates operations and activities for effectiveness. • Supervises science lab staff and prepares areas and classrooms to ensure proper safety measures are met and maintained. • Coordinate with Instructional faculty to create laboratory experiments. • Resolves conflict between lab staffs and Instructors Concerning lab schedules, lab preparation, and lab supply quality. • Facilitates Division of Sciences Specialists Working Groups (biology, chemistry, physics). Trains, guides, and supports employees. • Sets goals with employees; identifies professional development needs; and, coordinates cross-trains employees. Evaluates employee performance and provides feedback.

Perform microbiology setups. Perform moderately complex molecular tests; prepare Ova & Parasite setups, and gram stains. Perform and report rapid serology testing of waived or moderately complex testing. Responsible for phoning test results as requested by the ordering physician or as required by departmental procedure manuals (i.e., stats, panic values, and drug levels) Perform testing within specified time periods as stated in procedure manuals (i.e., stats, panic values, and drug levels) Restock supplies and equipment used in the work area, inventory, and maintain adequate supplies in the lab. Notify the supervisor of any areas that the employee requires assistance or training or current written procedures that are unclear or inadequate. Positions Available. Effectively uses all computer equipment, programs, and instrument interfaces related to.

• Perform and report rapid serology testing of waived or moderately complex testing.

Perform all waived and moderate complexity testing procedures in the assigned department, as described in the departmental procedure manual. Verify results with repeat analysis or confirmation testing per protocol. Understand calibration procedures and requirements as stated in the operations and procedure manuals. Perform method validation on moderately complex tests under CLS supervision. Responsible for simple maintenance (i.e., daily, weekly, monthly) as specified by the manufacturer and procedure manual. Perform simple and major troubleshooting procedures and adjustments as outlined in the instrument operations manual or as specified by the manufacturers in “hotline” situations Authorize service calls when the situation requires major manufacturers' repair beyond the employee’s scope. Understand the use of quality control material (i.e., means, acceptable ranges, trends, shifts, and out-of- control procedures) as outlined in the departmental procedure manual. Help to maintain records by documenting quality control results, out of control actions, and informing supervisors of recurring problems or those problems requiring immediate attention! Understand collection and handling requirements for procedures, as defined in departmental procedure manuals. Prepare and stain peripheral blood smears for CLS review. Perform special staining techniques (i.e., Wright’s stain, or malaria stains)

• Perform all waived and moderate complexity testing procedures in the assigned department, as described in the departmental procedure manual.

Calibrating equipment, developing standard operating procedures, and determining correct reference ranges for tests. Using automated equipment and computerized lab instruments to perform several tests simultaneously.
